Manchester City and Arsenal are tipped to compete for Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy in the summer.
Fichajes reports that Cityzens and the Gunners are both interested in signing 27-year-old Mendy. They are willing to pay 53 million pounds (60 million euros) to buy him from the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mendy’s season has been marred by injury problems, with the Frenchman making 25 appearances in all competitions and contributing one assist. Left-back joins Real Madrid from Lyon in 2019 and is a featured member of the Les Merengues team.
He has won two La Liga titles, the UEFA Champions League and two Spanish Super Cups. The French defender has faced numerous injuries this season and last appeared in Madrid’s 1-2 loss to Barcelona on March 19.
Manchester City are looking for a new left-back as speculation continues over Joao Cancelo’s future. The Portuguese full-back was loaned to Bayern Munich in January after falling out with Pep Guardiola. There is a €70m (£62m) purchase option available to the Bavarian side. Center-back Nathan Ake kicked at left-back, while 18-year-old Rico Lewis was given the chance.
Meanwhile, weapon may be looking to add to the competition for first choice left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Ukrainian has been in superb form this season and Kieran Tierney has barely featured. Reports claim that Scot is consider leaving the Gunners by Mikel Artetaleaving them in need of a replacement.
Marseille coach claims Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares can play for Real Madrid or Manchester City

Arsenal left-back Tavares looks set to leave the club in the summer. Reports suggest that the Portuguese not seen as a reliable option by Arteta and will be for sale.
Tavares was on loan at Marseille, making 33 appearances and scoring six goals in an impressive season at the Stade Velodrome. The full-back has received praise from Les Phocéens boss Igor Tudor. The Croatian thinks the player is good enough to play for Real Madrid or Manchester City. He said (via Football365):
“He is still a young player. He has great physical capacity. He has a remarkable ability to run. He can play at Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City… He still needs to develop and improve, we talked a lot with him.”
Tavares joined Arsenal from Benfica in 2021 for €8 million. However, he failed to make an impact at Emirates, scoring one goal and providing two assists in 28 appearances. He has 2 years left on his contract with the Gunners.
