Marie-Michele Gagnon tops Canadians in women’s super G class at Beijing Olympics


Marie-Michele Gagnon of Canada was the fastest Canadian in Friday’s women’s super-G event at the Beijing Olympics.

Lac-Etchamin’s hometown, Que., finished the course in one minute 14.65 seconds to place 14th.

Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland won gold at 1:13.51 for the third Olympic title of her career.

Mirjam Puchner of Austria won silver with a time of 1:13.73 and Michelle Gisin of Switzerland took bronze with a time of 1:13.81.

Roni Remme of Collingwood, Ont., placed 24th after finishing his run in 1:15.78.

The women’s next Alpine event is Tuesday’s downhill.
