Nintendo announced that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be under maintenance today, making its online features unavailable for several hours.
The game’s online functions will be inaccessible between 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. PT today, January 25 (that’s 7:30 p.m. ET and midnight ET and AM). next day at 12:30 a.m. to 5 a.m. GMT). Nintendo notes that this is “expected and standard” maintenance, clearly intended to quell any thoughts that new content might appear in the game.
“On January 25 from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM PST, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will undergo scheduled and standard maintenance. Online Play will be unavailable for a period of time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has not been updated since May 2021, when some minor bugs have been removed from the game. The last major update started September 2018 when Support Nintendo Labo added.
If you were planning to play Mario Kart online tonight and find yourself unable to do so, at least now you know why! Normal service will resume after the above time.
