Marvel’s Avengers support is coming to an end, but all modes will still be playable

The AvengersCrystal Dynamics and Square Enix’s 2020 live service game, will lose official developer support almost three years from the date it was released, studio said in a blog post. The final game update, version 2.8, will be out on March 31st with support for the game going down on September 30th.

The team added that while developer support for the game is coming to an end, both single-player and multiplayer modes will continue to be available. The most recent content pack, which adds the Winter Soldier hero and the Clone Lab Omega Level Threat as part of update 2.7, will now serve as a content update the last of the game, with the upcoming 2.8 patch only addressing the balance issues. The in-game economy will also be changed to reflect the new reality for co-op superhero gameplay.

“When update 2.8 goes live on March 31, 2023, Credits will no longer be purchaseable and all remaining Credit balances will be converted to in-game resources to support adventures happenning.”

For die-hard fans and soon-to-be players, the good news is how the team will handle the game’s previous bundles of paid content.

“To show our appreciation to our community, starting March 31, 2023, we will be making all cosmetic Marketplace, Challenge Card, and Shipment content available for free. of the game for all players. All Skins, Removes, Emotions and Nameplates [will be] free from this date onwards.”

Avengers launched to average reviews and, in the years that followed, was an often polarizing game, with some players preferring the heroes’ live-serve loop for upgrades and customization, while others Others decry what they felt was the forced in-game system that took away from what could have been something bigger.
