Maude Apatow once had her teeth removed to get her character – The Hollywood Reporter

Happiness Actress Maude Apatow is proving that she’s not afraid to really take on a role.

Ahead of the HBO hit show’s second season finale airing this Sunday, the performer is a guest on NBC’s Midnight on Thursday, host Seth Meyers played a clip showing her character, Lexi, participating in a school play based on her life. After showing the footage, Meyers pointed out that Apatow was a real-life theater aficionado growing up, and she concurs, revealing that she and Happiness series creator Sam Levinson talked about this.

“Sam and I discussed it a lot before, and it was based on me as a theater kid,” she shared. “I started at a very young age. I remember that I was always really trying too. ”

Apatow, whose parents are Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, goes on to recall a time when she wore a 19th-century gold miner at the age of nine and actually had her own tooth removed to look in the right parts.

The 24-year-old star said: “I went to a Gold Digger day, and I wanted to look like a miner, so I ruined my tooth. “It’s not a wobbly tooth at all! It’s still not ready to go, and I just tore it apart. ”

When Meyers asked her parents how her parents reacted, Apatow said, “I think my dad said, ‘What’s wrong with her? Oh no. We raised a monster. ‘”
