McCarthy, Jones speak on availability of Ezekiel Elliott’s Week 8
Dallas Cowboys Head coach Mike McCarthy spoke Friday about the star running again Ezekiel Elliott’s chance to compete in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears.
Elliott is facing a knee injury and is unlikely to feature for the NFC clash.
Owners Jerry Jones also discussed Pro Bowler three times but seemed to take on a slightly more pessimistic tone than he was capable of than Chicago.
If “Zeke” misses Sunday’s contest, most of the take-out will likely go to Tony Pollard, who split time with Elliott in the backyard this year. Elliott has had 115 touches this season while Pollard has 78 touches.
With four quick touchdowns compared to Pollard’s two, Elliott has more of a shot in the red area, but many consider the 25-year-old Memphis’ product to be the more explosive runner.
Pollard has hit a total of 375 yards in 67 attempts (5.6 meters per carry) and won 11 105-meter receptions this season, while Elliott has made 443-meter javes in 109 attempts ( 4.1 meters per carry) and only six more receptions for 32 meters by 2022.
The Cowboys will host the Bears show at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
