McLaren Americas president Nicolas Brown said: “We haven’t said anything about this car yet. auto news.
“But customers, of course, they see, ‘Okay, you can’t order a 720 anymore.’ They realized that production was ending. So put two and two together, something is coming.
“They predicted that it would be an improvement of the 720. They understood that it was not an entirely new, next-generation ground vehicle.
“They’ve already started making deposits with dealers, although we haven’t said anything yet.”
The 720S entered production in 2017, with a track-optimized 765LT version due out in 2020.
Originally set to enter production in 2021, the Artura’s launch was delayed as issues were identified, an obstacle highlighted in the company’s Q3 2022 financial results.
“After September 30, 2022, the Group identified a number of technical upgrades needed to ensure Artura customers enjoy optimal long-term performance. These upgrades result in delays to wholesale shipments and deliveries to customers,” the company said in November.
“This has had an impact on the liquidity of the pool. To help management through this matter, the Group’s main shareholder has committed to increasing liquidity by £100 million. [A$175 million].”
The McLaren Group confirmed that it is in active discussions with “key shareholders” about a “broader refinancing”, with a transaction to be agreed and announced in the first quarter of 2023.
