McLaren partners with Lockheed Martin Skunk Works on design technology

McLaren there are quite a lot financial and administrative issues to resolve at the moment, but the program must continue. Prepare for products to fill in the coming years — like a crossover, maybe? – super British sport car The manufacturer announced a technology partnership with Lockheed Martin Skunk Works “to explore future design approaches.”

Skunk Works is the nickname for the aerospace company’s Advanced Development Programs, the nickname taken from the “Skonk Oil” plant in “Li’l Abner” The comics became famous when Lockheed was commissioned to build America’s first fighter aircraft in the 1940s. Since then, Skunk Works has designed a series of America’s most iconic aircraft, including airplanes. spy U2, F-117 Nighthawk, F-22 Raptor, F-35 Lightning and SR-71 Blackbird.

McLaren says its interest is in the Lockheed division’s design software, proprietary code that “sets parameters for high-speed systems more accurately and quickly than traditional design methods.” Hey, if it’s operating at Mach 3 at 81,000 feet, maybe it’s going to operate at 300 km/h on the ground. McLaren engineers and developer Skunk Works will work together to find the answer.

If nothing else, McLaren can get random aerodynamic tips by association, any of which might help New hybrid artura and one last McLaren EV.

Group picture opening the partnership set a Mclaren Artura next to Lockheed Martin Darkstar supersonic plane model from the movie”Top shooters: Maverick.” The propeller plane is powered by a potentially viable technology known as “combined cycle propulsion” that Lockheed Martin has designed for what will become the successor to the SR- 71, SR-72 – looks a lot like Darkstar. The two engine principles have combined a reworked combat turboprop engine suitable for Mach 3 with a dual-mode ramjet engine known as a scramjet that can propel aircraft to high speeds. Mach 6 cruise level. Let’s hope McLaren can figure out how to get that part into its next supercar.
