Medical center mistakenly sent cancer diagnosis before X-Mas

Many patients are sharing the channel “You’re going to lose your job!” vibes after a major snafu incident caused by a medical facility in Doncaster, England.

A horribly wrong Christmas text

Based on BBC newsThe situation arose again on December 23 after Askern Medical Practice sent a mass message to a patient.

Instead of spreading holiday cheer, however, the message caused fear and pain in the recipient, when they were told they had been diagnosed with “malignant lung cancer.” It is also noted that the cancer has metastasized, meaning the condition has spread beyond the original site.

In addition, the notice instructs recipients to complete form DS1500, which is “used to claim benefits under special rules for terminal illnesses,” according to charity Marie Curie.

“[We are asking] let you do DS1500 for the above patient. Diagnosis – Invasive lung cancer with metastasis. Thanks.”

Soon after, a follow-up text was sent in to try to rectify the situation.

“Please accept our sincere apology for the previous text message sent. This was submitted in error. Our message to you should have been, ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Recipients Talk About Their Response To Lung Cancer Fear: ‘I Feel Sick’

Although the medical facility made the correction, the damage was done, as many were struggling with a diagnosis before learning that it was “sent by mistake”. In reality, BBC news reported that the healthcare center had nearly 8,000 patients.

Sarah Hargreaves is one such patient, and she was waiting for test results when she received a devastating message.

“I felt sick to the teeth and broke down. I just had my mole removed and am waiting for my biopsy results and I went to the hospital because my smear test was abnormal, so I was very worried.”

Sarah added that she immediately tried to contact the medical center, although she had difficulty contacting a staff member.

Carl Chegwin and his mother were two other patients who received the messages, which were described as “enough to knock someone down”.

“The first thing I thought was, ‘Is this some kind of sick joke?…I was completely taken by surprise.”

Carl continued, pointing out the absurdity of the whole situation.

“They just told everyone a few days before Christmas that they had terminal lung cancer. They can’t do that.”

He also points to broader privacy concerns by noting, “If it was one of their admins who sent a mass message, I wouldn’t trust them to empty the trash. .”

There are no further updates on the situation at this time.
