Meet Robotaxi Zoox with co-founder Jesse Levinson at TC Sessions: Mobility 2022 – TechCrunch
In the 18 months since the Zoox robot made its virtual debut, the custom-built vehicle has largely remained unfinished. That is, until Top collaborator session: Mobility 2022a two-day live event scheduled for May 18 and May 19 in San Mateo.
Co-founder and CTO Jesse Levinson will introduce robotaxi Zoox for the first time in our IRL public appearance on our main stage. The premiere, which includes an interview with Levinson, will ultimately give audiences a close-up look at what the company has built – and could reveal what its future holds.
Zoox has been working since 2014 to develop a self-driving system, fleet management software, on-demand ride-hailing app as well as a vehicle with the aim of launching a commercial robotaxi service.
The company, which was acquired by Amazon two years ago, has released video showing the cuboid, four-seat, sensor-filled vehicle in action. Now, it’s time to see for yourself.

In his role at Zoox, Levinson is responsible for overseeing the company’s software, artificial intelligence, computing and sensor platforms. Prior to joining Zoox, Levinson graduated with honors from Princeton and later completed a PhD in computer science. and postdoc under Sebastian Thrun at Stanford.
While at Stanford, he developed algorithms for the university’s $1 million prize winning entry inside 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge, and he continues to lead the self-driving car group’s research efforts. Levinson also co-created Pro HDR, a popular mobile photography app purchased by over a million people.
