Melinda French Gates Says Jeffrey Epstein Helped Break Up Marriage to Bill Gate

Melinda French Gates admitted in an interview on Thursday that she Divorce from Bill Gates appeared in part because of his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“It’s a lot of things. But I don’t like that he’s had meetings with Jeffrey Epstein,” she said told CBS Mornings’ Gayle King. “I made that clear to him.”

Gates of France said she met the sex offender “just once, because I wanted to see who this man was. And I regretted it from the moment I stepped foot in the door.

“He is disgusting. He has been personified evil. I had nightmares about it after that. So my heart breaks for these young women. ”

As The Daily Beast reported in May, the French Gates has warn her ex-husband about Epstein after meeting the disgraced financier at his Upper East Side mansion in 2013, people familiar with the matter said last year.

Bill Gates released a statement to CBS saying his meetings with Epstein were a “significant error of judgment” and a “mistake that I deeply regret.”

The former billionaire couple remains “friendly” but not friends, French Gates said, though they continue to oversee the foundation of the same name, one of the world’s largest private charities.

In her interview with CBS, she provided more details about their 27-year marriage.

“On the day I got married, I never thought I would get a divorce,” she said.

While Bill Gates admitted to having at least one affair in their marriage, “I think we worked out some of that,” she said. “It only came to a point where there was enough that I realized it was not healthy. And I couldn’t believe what we had.”

She refused to confirm rumors that Gates was a lot of problems in their marriage, saying “those are the questions Bill needs to answer.”

French Gates said she knew their divorce announcement last spring would take many people by surprise and that their breakup was of course very painful.

“I shed a lot of tears for many days. I mean the days where I literally lie on the floor of the rug,” she said.

“I was definitely angry. I mean this is a painful thing. At the end of the day, however, I’ve begun this healing journey, and I feel like I’m starting to get to the other side. ”

Gates of France, currently worth $ 6.2 billion, according to Forbes “I hope it happens to me again,” she told King. You know, I’m dipping my toes in that water.”
