Mercedes-AMG GT V8 4-door return: new look, updated suspension

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and GT 63 S Coupe 4-Door Returns From Unforeseen interruptions sport some cosmetic upgrades and modifications to their standard air suspension. V8-powered GTs now share a nose with flagship E-Performance hybrid model.

New wheel designs are being offered along with some additions color, and some exterior packages have been updated. Most notably, the Night and Carbon Fiber packages can now be ordered on the same vehicle. Inside, the additional color combinations available – including on the steering wheel – and additional trim options (such as perforated wood) are the main additions to the GT’s configuration.

The updates are not intuitive. By AMG engineers have added a second pressure-limiting valve to the standard air suspension of the V8 model. One valve controls the recovery and the other controls the compression; In the previous design, both were controlled by a single valve. Called AMG Ride Control+, the technology also keeps the body under control.

“This technology increases comfort on the one hand, but also makes the driving dynamics sportier on the other. As a result, passengers are almost completely shielded from uneven road surfaces.” Mercedes said in its announcement.

If all of this sounds familiar, don’t worry, you’re not crazy. Real Mercedes announced a suspension upgrade last year along with some updates to the six-cylinder GT. Since the V8 GT comes out a year, we’ll get them for 2023 instead.
