The slightly refreshed exterior and the latest infotainment technology are the main highlights of the upgrade Mercedes CLA “coupe” and capture the brake.
Anyone hoping for a radical redesign will be disappointed. The main changes are the new front bumper, redesigned graphics for the LED headlights and taillights. Many models also have a new grille with small three-pointed stars throughout.
On the inside, the changes are similarly subtle, with a Nappa leather steering wheel now standard. The trim has been tweaked, including imitation carbon fiber and perforated brown lime wood, with microfiber trim elements available on AMG models.
More recycled fabrics are used in the cabin, with the basic fabric seat trim now featuring 100% recycled materials.
The rectangular plate above the dashboard is fitted with a 7.0-inch display as standard in front of the driver, with more expensive variants using a 10.25-inch screen.
The infotainment setup is provided by the latest version of the MBUX system, and all variants get a 10.25-inch touchscreen as standard. The touchpad in the center console has been replaced with a storage area, this system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity.
Mercedes-Benz has added one more USB-C port to the CLA series and illuminates all charging ports. The optional Burmeister surround sound system now includes Dolby Atmos support.
All conventional CLA powertrains, at least in Europe, come in some form of electrification, mainly in the form of a 48V mild hybrid setup that includes a 10 kW starter generator.
In Europe, the petrol offering includes a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder in the CLA180 100kW/230Nm and 120kW/270Nm CLA200 versions, and a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder in the CLA180 models. CLA220 4Matic 140kW/300Nm and 165kW/350Nm CLA250 4Matic models.
There are also three versions of the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine: CLA180d 85kW/280Nm, CLA200d 110kW/320Nm and CLA220d 140kW/400Nm.
The biggest upgrade is for CLA250e plug-in hybrid, whose new electric motor boasts 80kW and 300Nm, up 5kW from before. Paired with a 1.3-litre 120kW/270Nm engine, the 250e has a total power output of 160kW and 450Nm.
Charging for the 15.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack has also been improved, with the 250e now supporting 11kW AC charging, up from a previous 7.4kW maximum. The peak DC charging speed is still limited to 22kW.

Street style version AMG CLA45 S 4Matic+
For AMG-branded models, the most significant change is for the CLA35 4Matic, get a 48V starter mild-hybrid setup from the smaller models. This not only provides better automatic engine start/stop functionality, but can also increase power by 10 kW when needed.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine still has a capacity of 225kW and 400Nm, acceleration time from 0-100km / h remains unchanged at 4.9 seconds.
The CLA45 S 4Matic+ features an unchanged 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that is said to produce 310kW and 500Nm.
There is, however, a new Street Style Edition for the CLA45 S, which includes 19-inch five-spoke dual-spoke alloy wheels, an AMG aerodynamics package with black-painted orange trim and details, and a matte Magno gray paint. , the letter AMG stands out on the wheel. doors and checkered flag design above the threshold. It’s unclear what powertrain options will be offered in Australia when the facelift launches, but the current range includes the CLA200, CLA250 4Matic, AMG CLA35 4Matic and AMG CLA45 S 4Matic+.
