But tonight the focus is on the steps of the Met, where A-list actors, supermodels, drag TV queens, musicians and athletes are walking cream carpets in their best designer outfits.

Adding to the patchwork, Vogue’s editor-in-chief ditched her usual Chanel and donned a floral Oscar de la Renta dress – a tribute to the late designer, a close friend and a passionate gardener.
Meanwhile, Gorman told CNN Style that American fashion is “varied, vibrant, beautiful, and alternating.” As she stepped forward, she said, “I think American fashion is really at the crossroads of the world.”
The poet wears an embroidered indigo dress by Vera Wang, with a jewel-encrusted laurel crown and a book-shaped clutch decorated with the words “Give me your fatigue” – all are all related to the Statue of Liberty.

Dressed in Oscar de la Renta, Billie Eilish serves up Old Hollywood glamor in the style of Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly. Her classic peach-pink dress comes with a fitted bodice and the tulle needs the assistance of four helpers.
Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney of New York didn’t emphasize her words with a bold look with “equal rights for women” written down the length of the back shoulder board.
Rapper Saweetie wore a figure-hugging dress, studded with train crystals by Christian Cowan. The design combines the colors of the Black American Heritage flag and the flag of the Philippines – a reference to her mixed heritage. Similarly, Naomi Osaka has brought her Japanese and Haitian background together in a Louis Vuitton garment. Ruffled sleeves evoke carnival, while the red obi on her tulip dress is reminiscent of a traditional kimono tie.
