Meyers Manx 2.0 Electric is an EV that regenerates the dune bug
The Meyers Manx is fully electric 2.0 is here, and it looks like a great time. Designed by industry veteran Freeman Thomas, the Meyers Manx 2.0 Electric is unmistakable in its design. The goal was to retain the feel and legacy of the original, while at the same time bringing it into the contemporary era, and it looks like the new Meyers Manx has done exactly that. The combination of classic design and modern style, such as LED lighting and blue tinted interior, creates a sweet look.
As for the preliminary specs (Meyers Manx says they’re still subject to change), we like what we’ve seen so far. There are two the battery Optional package is expected in production, base model 20 kWh and optional version 40 kWh. Range is estimated at 150 miles with the base model and 300 miles with the 40 kWh vehicle. Each Manx 2.0 Electric will come with two electric motors, one for each rear wheel, helping it drive the rear wheels. Output is not offered for the small battery pack version, but the 40 kWh car is said to have 202 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. That should suffice for a 0-60 mph time of just 4.5 seconds.
When it comes to charging, each Meyers Manx 2.0 Electric will have a built-in 6 kW charging system. However, DC fast charging will be optional, and its charging speed is said to max out at 60 kW. For the relatively small battery pack and use case, that’s not too bad.
Regarding the chassis, the new Manx uses all-aluminum monolithic and has an independent rear suspension. It has front and rear discs brake and has both electric power steering and electric emergency braking. The weight restriction for the base model is 1,500 pounds, and the version with the large battery pack weighs in at 1,650 pounds.
