Michael Rapaport & Russell Simmons Clap back to DJ Akademiks
Rub! Industry vets are continuing to learn DJ Akademiks when it comes to Hip-Hop pioneers! On Thursday, LL Cool J spoke about his work after Ak called the founders of Hip-Hop “dust”. Michael Rapaport and co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, Russell Simmons, also spoke out. Michael doesn’t have a pretty approach like LL and goes straight to Ak’s neck. In one video, he calls out Ak, a parasitic clown with no talent. “You are not a DJ. You don’t cut, you don’t scratch, you don’t produce. You’re not a DJ, so stop calling yourself a DJ,” he said.

He continued, “Because he didn’t respect the people who built this, built Hip-Hop, that changed everything. Shut up. “Uncle Rush added two cents. However, he took a softer approach. In a five-minute video on Thursday, he spoke to Ak, though he said he had no idea who he was. While outside his home in Bali, he reminisces about Hip-Hop’s founding fathers, Kool Herc, DJ Busy B, Grandmaster Flash, Grand Wizard Theodore, and others who paved the way.
“I was there before there was such a thing as records. These are the people who attended the parties that Rush Productions promotes. So they were the founding fathers, and they created hip-hop,” he said. Rush admits that many rappers don’t make a lot of money but elaborated on how they’ve made Hip-Hop a tool that creates thousands of jobs and allows people to provide for their families.
Before ending the video, he tells Ak, saying, “Take a break and be grateful for the people who came before you, the people who built your life. I don’t know how rich you are or how many boats you’re on. How many cars do you own? How many people have you enriched? How many people have made their families successful? What have you done for the culture,” he said.
“I know Kanye songs. I know Drake songs. I do not know you. I sound like Stacy Dash. I don’t know you, n *** a, one bit. I don’t know what you did, but I wish you well.”
Roommate, what do you think about this?
