Michael Strahan Flies to the Edge of Space: “I Wanna Go Back”

Michael Strahan just took a trip that was literally out of this world.

On Saturday, December 11, Good Morning America co-host and former NFL star was blown to the edge of space along with five others aboard Amazon, the founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos‘Blue Origin rocket ship.

After landing, Strahan told those on the ground, “I want to go back.”

He also said, “You have to get that perspective.”

Strahan has been joined by space industry executives Dylan Taylor, Investors Evan Dick, risky investment Lane Bess, his son Cameron Bess and Laura Shepard Churchley– eldest daughter of the late legendary US astronaut Alan Shepard, who in 1961 became the first American in space. The rocket ship itself was named New Shepard, after him. Both Strahan and Churchley were guests of honor while four other members of the crew were paying customers.

The projectile, launched from Blue Origin’s private facility in West Texas, was accelerated to three times the speed of sound to cross the 80-kilometer (about 50-mile) boundary that the US uses to mark the edge of space and reached over 340,000 feet in altitude before returning to Earth a few minutes later, CNBC reported.
