MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minneapolis residents on Tuesday have voted in the direction of a proposed modification that may have eradicated the city’s police division from the city structure and alter it with a Division of Public Safety.

With 94% of precincts reporting, 57% of voters — higher than 76,000 — have been in the direction of the modification.
The vote means the Division of Public Safety gained’t be created and the Minneapolis Police Division will keep in town structure.
Within the meantime, the Minneapolis Police Division is trying to find $27 million in funding to take care of a “staggering” number of police officer departures as violent crime surges inside the metropolis.
