Missing High School Students Lyric Woods and Devin Clark Found Shot Dead on North Carolina Trail

Two North Carolina teens who disappeared under mysterious circumstances over the weekend were found dead on a trail in Orange County, authorities said.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said the two bodies found Sunday match the descriptions of 14-year-old Lyric Woods and 18-year-old Devin Clark, although the medical examiner has yet to provide full confirmation.

“While we have not yet had that confirmation, in the absence of any other missing persons matching the descriptions of those found, the tragic but logical conclusion becomes increasingly clear,” said the sheriff. Charles Blackwood said in a statement late Monday.

Family members have confirmed the bodies belong to the two teenagers, according to ABC 11reported that relatives were at the crime scene on Monday morning.

Woods, a ninth grader at Cedar Ridge High School in Hillsborough, was reported missing Saturday after her family woke up to find she was not at home and the back door of the house unlocked. Charlotte Observer reported. Clark, a senior at Eastern Alamance High School in Mebane, was reported missing on Sunday after not being seen since Friday night.

Both families begged for information about their whereabouts while search efforts were underway, but the case took a tragic turn on Sunday afternoon when the men in ATVs made the discovery. Two bodies were discovered near a power line about 2.5 kilometers from Woods’ home. Investigators said the two victims appeared to have been shot.

While police say Clark and Woods appear to know each other, the circumstances of their disappearance and the timing of their deaths remain a mystery. Investigators have yet to name any suspects.

Report of a missing person cited by WRAL said Woods, the ninth grader, was spotted by a neighbor driving around one o’clock Saturday morning, and search dogs traced her scent throughout a wooded area where residents Locals usually ride four-wheelers.

Clark’s mother, Tiffany Concepcion, was quoted by the news agency as saying she believed a third person the teenagers met could be involved in their deaths.

“Who is strong enough to carry two bodies and dump them? We want answers,” she said.

David White, a man who lives near the area where the body was found, said: ABC 11 he heard “almost 10 shots” fired from what sounded like an “automatic gun” a few days ago.

After pausing for a second, he said, “five more shots.”

“I thought, ‘Who shot this so late at night?

Clark was also honored to release balloons at his high school’s ballpark, where his aunt, Crystal Hughes, said the family is trying not to understand what happened.

“It’s hard for us to process everything that’s going on because we don’t have any details,” Hughes is quoted as saying. “And we really, our lack of information just don’t match us with what we’re hearing and all the different aspects of the story that we know, hoping that the The police are investigating do the way it has to go . “
