SOMERSWORTH, NH (WHDH) – Siblings Alaina and Chance Wilson, who authorities believe were kidnapped by their biological mother, Kaileigh Nichols from their home in Somersworth, New Hampshire, have been found safe. in Maine, according to the New Hampshire State Police. An Amber Alert was previously issued to them.
Alaina, 11, and Chance, 8, were last seen at 7:30 p.m. at their residence at 93 Colonial Village Park in Somersworth, where they have lived under their grandmother’s tutelage for the past four years. Grandma fell asleep at 7:30 pm. Siblings were reported missing at 9:45 p.m. when she woke up and checked again. Alaina is described as a 5’1″ or 5’2″ Caucasian woman with brown hair and brown eyes, and weighs about 96 pounds. Chance is a 4’6″ to 4’10” Caucasian male with brown hair and brown eyes and weighs about 68 pounds.
According to police, both children appeared to have been taken out of the house through a window. Alaina’s phone is left on her bed.
Somersworth Police confirmed that Nichols took a gray 2009 Honda Civic from a relative in Maine (Maine veteran license plate number 2827A7), and the vehicle was later seen at an end-of-school event in California. Somersworth on June 16. Nichols crashed. addicted to drugs and known to have mental health problems. She is 5’1″ tall and is a white woman with brown hair and brown eyes, and weighs about 125 pounds. Her last known address was on Hubbard Road in Lebanon, Maine. Police were issued with an arrest warrant for Nichols on two counts of interfering with custody.
The grandmother told 7News that she went to check on the children in their bedroom at 9:45 p.m. and noticed they were gone. She said that she saw that the window was partially open and that the screen on the ground could be seen.
She also told 7News that the child’s father was the person in their lives, but was unable to provide them with custody. He died last fall in a car crash.
A neighbor, who learned the news this morning, told 7News that the incident made her sick.
