MLHU warns passengers who used Megabus over the weekend to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms

The Middlesex-London Health Unit is warning travelers on the Megabus from London to Toronto and Toronto to Niagara Falls that they have been exposed to COVID-19.

The health unit said the warning covers anyone traveling on the Megabus from London to Toronto on Sunday, November 28 and then from Toronto to Niagara Falls on Monday, November 29.

People are being advised to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms after a medical facility confirmed that a passenger on two separate trips tested positive for COVID-19.

“There is a risk that anyone sitting within two meters or in close contact with this person on the bus, may have been exposed to COVID-19,” said Dr Alex Summers, acting paramedic of MLHU.

The medical unit was unable to determine who was sitting near the passenger and advised everyone on the bus to get checked out if they developed the system.

On Sundays, Megabus leaves London at 1:10pm from the Flying J Megabus Stop on 2700 Highbury Avenue south and arrives at 4pm at Toronto’s Union Station bus terminal.

The second megabus departs from the Toronto Bus Terminal at 610 Bay St. at 12:30pm and arrive at Niagara Falls around 2:30pm at the Niagara Falls Bus Terminal at 4555 Erie Ave.

Buses also stop at Main Street and Cristie Street in Grimsby and at the Megabus Terminal at 70 Carlisle St. in St. Catharines.

“We continue to recommend that anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms get tested and that they stay home and away from others until the test results are received,” Summers said.
