More than 12.8 million children in the US infected with COVID: Report
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, more than 2.8 million children have tested positive for COVID, as reported by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Children’s Hospital Association.
More than 130,000 of these cases have been added in the past four weeks. According to Xinhua news agency, since the first week of September last year, there have been nearly 7.8 million more cases of Covid-19 in children.

The AAP says there is an urgent need to collect more age-specific data to assess disease severity associated with the new variants as well as the potential longer-term effects.
“It is important to recognize the immediate impacts of the pandemic on children’s health, but it is also important that we identify and address the long-term impacts on physical, mental and wellbeing. society of this generation of children and young people,” said AAP.
