Mortal Kombat: Onslaught Collecting RPG Announced for Android, iOS

Next Mortal Kombat Not a traditional fighting game. NetherRealm Studios developer’s next project is a spin-off called Mortal Kombat: Onslaughtwhich studio and publisher Warner Bros. Games has described as a new “anthology role-playing game” coming to mobile devices in 2023.

According to a news release, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught will allow players to build a squad of fighters and fight in “real-time large group battles.” The Mortal Kombat series features a long list of playable characters – and there’s no shortage of side characters that can join them – so a spin-off in the circuit of free collectible games like Star Wars: Hero Galaxy, Marvel Future battleand Pokémon Master FOR EXAMPLE seems like a great fit for exploiting that deep roster (and the plethora of MK character variants out there).

WB Games and NetherRealm reveal very few details about Mortal Kombat: Onslaught on Tuesday, but promises a “cinematic story experience” beyond collectible RPG mechanics.

Ed Boon, creative director of NetherRealm Studios and co-creator of Mortal Kombat, said Onslaught will be “true to its core visceral nature” and offer “team-based strategic gathering RPG with fast-paced, group melee combat”.

Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is the sequel to NetherRealm Mortal Kombat Mobile, which is closer to the series’ 2D fighting style. That game has more than 150 million installs on Android and iOS platforms, Warner Bros. said.

Recent Mortal Kombat Brand 30th anniversary of the establishment. The most recent core game in the series, Mortal Kombat 11released in 2019. NetherRealm is expected to reveal a sequel to that game soon.
