Initial reports that Movie Super Mario Bros. would be a musical that seems more real today. After Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb reported a rumor that the movie will have more musicals back in April, and Jack Black It was confirmed earlier this month that he would be starring as Bowser, with Keegan-Michael Key revealing that Toad will also be singing.
When comedians and actors asked by Variety If Toad will sing in the movie, Key confirmed it. “I have to improvise a song in Super Mario Bros., it was an absolute blast. It was just a joke, the whole thing,” he said.
Key also talked a bit about how he found the little mushroom head guy’s voice. “I’m working with my voice actor and trying to find voice through the character’s inner journey. And then with the directors, we sprinkle some stuff in, we move it around. “
