MTK Global stops working | Boxing News
MTK Global, the boxing management company co-founded by crime boss Daniel Kinahan, has ceased operations.
Prominent names in the boxing industry have been urged to cut ties with Kinahan, accused of being the head of an organized crime gang in Irelandafter he was targeted by the US government.
In April, the US government announced a reward of $5 million (£3.8 million) for information leading to arrest or convict the leaders of the Kinahan criminal gang.
Kinahan has always denied any wrongdoing.
In 2021, Tyson Fury thanked Kinahan for helping to organize a climactic bout against then-world champion Anthony Joshua, who subsequently lost.
Talking to Sky Sports News on Tuesday, Fury says US government sanctions Kinahan “none of my business” and his sole focus is on the upcoming world heavyweight bout against Dillian Whyte.
In a statement released on Wednesday, three days before Fury’s fight with Whyte, MTK Global said: “As a business, we have faced a high level of scrutiny and unfair criticism. unprecedented level since being sanctioned by the US Government Daniel Joseph Kinahan.
“It is publicly recognized that Mr. Kinahan’s involvement in MTK ended in 2017, and despite repeated assurances on the matter, baseless allegations about his ongoing affiliation with us and our warriors still exist.
“Since the top promoters have now informed us that they will be severing all ties with MTK and will no longer work with our fighters, we have made the difficult decision. is shutting down at the end of this month.
“MTK thrives because we have always placed the long-term interests of our fighters at the heart. Our priority in the coming weeks will be to ensure that our world-class fighters are supported in their quest to find them. new partnerships as quickly as possible.
“MTK’s gyms are independently operated and will remain open for the foreseeable future. Further announcements will be made in the near future.
“Thank you to all the fans who have supported us over the past decade.”
