Mustang Mach-E recall, Polestar 5 release date, built-in charger: Car News Today
Polestar announces launch date for its flagship phone. One company sees an opportunity to get rid of the built-in EV charger. And the Ford Mustang Mach-E is not currently being delivered. This and more, here at Green Car Report.
Delivery of Ford Mustang Mach-E has been paused due to a potential problem with the battery contactor that could result in power loss. Ford has issued a recall and will take action on the software next month — delivered conveniently, online.
The Polestar 5 will be released at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2022 later this month. Expect this aluminum-intensive flagship model not only to orient the design for the brand, but also to aim for performance (and perhaps efficiency) to compete with the Tesla Model S, Lucid Air or Mercedes EQS. The 5 is expected to go on sale in 2024 – after the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 SUV – although it could also be a 2025 model.
And maybe the on-board charger is replaced by a re-perceiving inverter? That’s effectively what Canada’s Hillcrest Energy Technologies is aiming for, with a new setup that could reduce the extra weight of the built-in AC chargers in electric vehicles in the future — though it hasn’t done much to prove it yet. demonstrate this concept in practical use.
