Nasa has issued a warning classifying Asteroid 2022 RJ2 as a “Potentially Dangerous Object” due to the close distance it will pass by Earth. Although it will not collide with Earth, a small deviation in its orbit due to Earth’s gravity could push it towards Earth to cause a collision.
Asteroid 2022 RJ2 is expected to make its closest approach to Earth on September 12 at a distance of just 1.17 million kilometers.
