National Nurses Week: Celebrating Human Connection
In my life, as in the lives of others, there have been moments that are terrifying, even existential. Surgery in progress. Rushing to get my sons to the emergency room (in more cases than I want to count). When my parents were sick and sick. These are moments where nothing else in the world matters, except authoritative love and care.
In every moment of this horror, it was the nurses who made the difference. Of course, they do more than just heal our wounds and help heal our bodies. They support us and comfort us, ensuring that our common humanity is the driving force behind the practice of medicine. In short, it is the nurse who brings health care in.
Amid all the social isolation and fear of the unknown, the human connection that nurses have provided us – even at the risk of their lives – is worth it. more praise. What a hero.
After a year marked by so much fear, illness and death, we must increase our collective gratitude and appreciation tenfold for nurses. Amid all the social isolation and fear of the unknown, the human connection that nurses have provided us – even at the risk of their lives – is worth it. more praise. What a hero.
When I think about my gratitude to the nurses in my life, I think, “Who’s supporting them?”
This is why the work we do at Cisco to make healthcare simpler, being more accessible and effective has profound, personal implications for me. I like to imagine that the nurse who made my son smile while he was being sewn together made patient care easier thanks to the safety net we provide. I think of the nurse who reassured me during my mother’s pacemaker surgery and hope that he can safely and securely check in with his patients through healthcare opportunities extended remote.
And I’m certainly gratified to know that Cisco technology, in its own small way, has allowed all the nurses who have been fighting on the front lines of COVID to access the vaccines they need to keep working. and their lives safely.
Celebrating National Nurses Week
So for this year’s #NationalNursesWeek, I want to express my gratitude to the nurses, not only for their medical skills but for forging that human connection with those who need it most. And I hope that Cisco technology makes these connections easier, stronger, and richer.
From our team comes yours, Happy National Nurses Week. We are very grateful to you.
