NBA Injury Report: Zion Williamson Has Problems, Jaren Jackson Jr. issues and more updates on Ben Simmons and Seth Curry
One of the NBA’s biggest names returning from a one-year hiatus last season is back on injury reports. The New Orleans Pelicans have listed Zion Williamson as a suspect for tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Williamson’s leg injury has always worried the Pelicans and fans. He has missed two games this season and could miss another if the injury report is true.
“Zanos” must have injured it in the Pelicans’ win over the Houston Rockets. Former NBA All-Star Williamson was extremely effective when he scored 26 points from just 9 goals. He makes a living on the free-throw line by taking all but two of his 12 free throws.
Exactly when Zion Williamson injured his ankle/foot is unclear but it’s no surprise that the team is being extra careful with him. The Pelicans will host Memphis tonight and then the Chicago Bulls the next night. Williamson can only play one of two head-to-head matches.
Meanwhile, Jaren Jackson Jr. could debut for the 2022-23 NBA season after undergoing out-of-season leg surgery. Jackson Jr.’s final game. was in Game 6 of the knockout round with the eventual champion being the Golden State Warriors.
Last season, Jaren Jackson was a key factor in the success of the Memphis Grizzlies. He averages 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and the NBA’s best 2.3 tackles per game. These are the numbers the Grizzlies missed in the first 14 games of the season.
Without Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies used Santi Aldama as a forward. Memphis’ second-year power forward did well while waiting for Jackson Jr. back in action. He is expected to return to the bench once “JJJ” is fit.
Ben Simmons: Swollen/painful left knee; Injured since October 31, 2022
Ben Simmons has been in and out of the Brooklyn Nets since a left knee injury sidelined him on October 31, 2022. Brooklyn was set to face the Indiana Pacers when Simmons was dropped for the aforementioned reason. .
The former NBA All-Star wore streetwear when the Nets lost to the LA Lakers two nights ago. Basketball fans were excited to see Simmons take on another struggling player at Russell Westbrook. The game that basketball fans wanted to see didn’t come true.
Anything positive that Ben Simmons showed earlier in the NBA season seems to have completely abandoned him. He averaged just 5.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists. The Australians are clearly not enjoying their time playing in the league.
Most basketball pundits confirmed during the season that the Nets would need the NBA All-Star version of Simmons to at least make it to the knockout stages. That version of Simmons disappeared during the Brooklyn Nets’ rough start.
It is unknown how long Ben Simmons will be out of action. The Nets may want to let the knee heal before bringing him back.
Seth Curry: Left ankle rehabilitation/management; Injured since the season
The brooklyn network aside Seth curry in their loss to LA Lakers to manage his left ankle. Before missing that game, the shooting guard seemed to have regained his shooting sensation in the last two games.
In the Nets’ reverse win over the New York Knicks, Curry played his game and played a big part in helping Kevin Durant carry the team. Brooklyn’s backup shooting defender averaged 22.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in just over 25 minutes.
Not available Kyrie Irving is suspended, Curry has shown the importance of his outside scoring. He hit 4-8 three-pointers against the Knicks and scored 6-11 against the Clippers.
He’s likely back against the Sacramento Kings tonight.
