NBA YoungBoy found not guilty in federal gun case

It’s been more than a year since NBA YoungBoy was accused of federal gun possession — and now the final results have been revealed. Earlier today in a Los Angeles courtroom, a jury found NBA YoungBoy not guilty in a high-profile case that could land him back in prison for several years.

NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell D. Gaulden, has reason to celebrate, as his longstanding legal drama in Los Angeles has officially ended. YoungBoy was not found guilty of gun and ammunition possession as a felony, ending one of two federal gun trials he faces. After deliberating for two hours, the jury decided that he was innocent of the charges against him, which he initially faced 10 years in prison if he was found guilty.

You will recall that in March 2021, NBA YoungBoy was arrested for gun possession in California under a separate federal gun possession order from an earlier incident in his hometown of Louisiana. In that case, dating from September 2020, NBA YoungBoy was among 16 people charged with gun and drug possession at a video shoot in Baton Rouge.

However, in this current trial, YoungBoy’s legal team claims that their client was unaware of his outstanding federal order and panicked when armed agents approached his vehicle, causing him to flee the scene. They further argued that YoungBoy was unaware there was a weapon in the vehicle and that no fingerprints or usable DNA tied him to the gun.

After the ruling, NBA YoungBoy responded to reporters, saying he “feels great” about the results.
