Neeraj Chopra can’t stop writing history for India. In a period of 13 months, he became India’s first Olympic gold medalist in athletics, the first Indian to win a silver medal at the Athletics World Championships and is currently the India is the first to win the Diamond League championship. On Thursday, Chopra threw 88.44m to win the Diamond League 2022 final in Zurich. His winning throw came in the second take, and in signature style, Neeraj celebrated before the javelin landed.

Chopra overcame competition from Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch to win the event, about a month after he became the first Indian to win a Diamond League meeting.
On Thursday, Neeraj dominated the field, registering three throws that could beat an opponent during the night.
The 24-year-old registered to throw 88.44m, 88m and 87m, all of which were better than Vadlejch’s top attempt of 86.94m.
Neeraj’s two other legal throws are 86.11m and 83.60m.
The Diamond League is the most prestigious event in athletics after the World Championships and the Olympics, and Neeraj became the first Indian to win the final.
“Today was a very good match against Jakub Vadlejch, he also threw very well. I predict today will be 90m from me. But it’s okay, I got the diamond trophy and this is the most important thing for me. me,” Neeraj said after winning.
Aside from the injury sustained during the World Championships in Oregon that knocked him out of the Commonwealth Games, it was a successful year for the escapee.
He’s made the 88m plus six throws this season, which shows his consistency. He holds the national record of 89.94m that he achieved this season.
