Netflix Won’t Show Dave Chappelle’s Hollywood Bowl – The Hollywood Reporter

The most talked about moment from Netflix’s first comedy festival – perhaps one of the most talked about from not at all recent in-memory comedy performance – won’t stream.

Netflix has released a list of released content from Netflix’s Is a Joke Fest and Dave Chappelle’s Hollywood Bowl event, where the comedian was attacked on stage last week, excluding.

However, the film’s absence was not due to the attack. The streamer made it clear before the festival that the comedian’s four sold-out Hollywood Bowl shows were not taped for a special. Chappelle has his own camera on hand to shoot the show – as comics often do when making new material (like Chappelle). Professional footage of the attack could survive and eventually see the light of day in some way, but it wasn’t part of Netflix’s plans.

Instead, here are a handful of specials that Netflix has curated from its 336 comics, performing 288 shows across 35 Los Angeles locations over the past few weeks, along with slated premiere dates for per set on service:

May 19, year Hall: Honoring the greats of the stand, “An evening to celebrate some of the greatest risers of all time, who are no longer with us. John Mulaney honors Robin Williams, Dave Chappelle honors Richard Pryor, Chelsea Handler honors Joan Rivers and Jon Stewart honors George Carlin.”

6 June year Bill Burr Presents: Murderous Friends“A showcase of the booths curated by Burr.”

June 7 and 12, year It was my time with David Letterman“Each of the six episodes featured a comedian, including a five-minute standing scene and conversation with Letterman.”

June 9 year Featured: LGBTQ Celebration +“The largest collection of LGBTQ+ comics ever.”

June 10 – Remembering Bob Saget“A celebration of Bob’s life in comedy with his friends and family.”

June 11, year Advice for Parents by Amy Schumer“A showcase of the booths curated by Schumer.”

June 13 – Pete Davidson’s Gift: Best Friends“A special series of comics organized and curated by Davidson.”

June 14 – Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin: Ladies Night Live“Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda introduce an all-female comedian.”

June 16 year Snoop Dogg’s F*cn Around Comedy Special“Snoop’s original comedy, along with films by legendary black comedians performing at the festival.”

June 23, year The best of the festival“Highlights during the 11-day event.”

The biggest special planned yet has no air date: Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias gives a sold-out show at Dodger Stadium.
