New ‘Andor’ Trailer Previews Darkest Star Wars Series Yet

It turns out that even in galaxies very, very far away, there are production delays. The Star Wars Sequel, Andorto be slated to premiere at the end of August. But its first full trailer reveals that fans will have to wait three more weeks to see it the Rogue One spinoff.

Andor stars Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), a thief invited to join the Rebel Alliance in its war against the Galactic Empire. Set in the interval between Episode III and Episode IV, it was dark times for the Star Wars universe; The dramatic, upbeat trailer serves as a great reminder of that.

“The Empire is squeezing us so slowly, we’re starting to not realize it,” Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgard) tells Andor, as the trailer opens. “What I am asking is: Do you want to give it all up for something real?”

The previously indifferent Andor says yes, and he joins the fight. His teammates include rebel leader Saw Gerrera (Forrest Whittaker), and Asthma Mon Mo (Genevie O’Reilly), a senator who secretly helps the rebels while working for the Empire. Both returned from Rogue One also. Surprisingly, there’s also a quick arrival from Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o), a 1,000-year-old space pirate who first appeared in Volume VIII.

What we’re about to see is a thriller full of intrigue, sub-space battles, and high odds. What we can’t see for the first time in a minute: the Jedi. (Probably because the Jedi are all hiding around this time. If you forget all that, you can go see Obi-Wan Kenobialso on Disney+.)

Appears on Good Morning America Monday To announce the trailer, Luna also previewed what was to come.

“It’s pretty unique, because we know what Cassian is capable of, but we’ll see him when he didn’t know he was,” he said. “We will see him when life is difficult. It was a very dark and exciting life, because it was just an ordinary guy who suddenly had to be part of something bigger, had to be part of a growing community. It was the beginning of the genesis of a revolution, and it is a beautiful story because it reminds us that what we are capable of, we are all capable. There are no Jedis around — it’s people to control. “

There will definitely be more drama Andor spent 12 episodes of the first season, the longest in a Star Wars TV series to date. And this is just season one, mind you; Andor has been renewed for a second, final season.

Maybe it’s to make up for the delay. Originally scheduled to launch on August 31, Andor will now premiere on Disney+ September 21. The first three episodes will premiere that day, with further episodes being released weekly..
