A new one Firefox Features can remove various online trackers from sites like Facebook, Hubspot, lytics, and others from the URLs you visit before they load up in the browser, Bleeping Computer reports. The feature is called Stripping query parameters and it reportedly removes strings attached at the end of allowed URLs Facebook and other companies to track your online activity and serve you targeted advertising.
You’ll notice that in a URL, there’s usually a set of characters after the question mark. This set of characters is called a query parameter through which a company like Facebook knows you clicked on that link, so they can create your profile to serve you ads.
To prevent yourself from being tracked like this, you must enable this feature in the latest version on Firefox Browser, which will then remove those pesky characters before the URL loads. To do so, simply select “Strict” for “Advanced Follow Protect” in Privacy & Security settings. To enable the feature when browsing in Private Mode, by typing “about:config” in the address bar, search the strip and set the ‘privacy.query_stripping.enabled.pbmode’ option to true, according to the report.
The list of companies that the new Firefox feature can block from tracking you includes Facebook, Olytics, Drip, Vero, HubSpot, and Marketo.
