New Jersey Attorney General’s Office investigating police-related shooting that left a man dead in Vineland


VINELAND, New Jersey (WPVI) – The New Jersey Attorney General’s office is investigating a fatal police-related shooting that left a man dead Saturday morning in Vineland.

Tom Propheita from Vineland said: “I’ve never seen anything like this. Not around here. It’s scary.”

The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. at Penn Lincoln Mobile Home Park between Brandywine Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Officials say an officer with the Vineland Police Department fired his official weapon, fatally wounding an unidentified male.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after, according to police.

“I heard an explosion, and then gunfire,” said Millie Martinez, a resident.

Video from the scene also shows an ambulance on the side, a police SUV with front-end damage, another police SUV on the side and a badly damaged red sedan.

It remains unclear how the vehicles were damaged and how it is related to the shooting investigation.

Nykita Holley from Vineland said: ‘It was horrifying.

Three Vineland police officers were slightly injured in the incident.

Officials say they have been treated and released since then.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information has been released at this time.
