NFL Denver Broncos set to hire former Saints HC Sean Payton
There won’t be Sean Payton on Fox Sports next season, he has found a new position to coach. ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Payton will be the next head coach of the Denver Broncos. The Broncos and Payton’s former team, the New Orleans Saints, have completed the compensation.
The Saints will receive the Broncos’ 2023 first-round pick (30th overall) and their 2024 second-round pick for Payton and the Saints’ 2024 third-round pick, according to ESPN, citing sources.
This comes after Denver reportedly tried to hire the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryansaccording to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

It appeared Schefter may have known something yesterday, based on his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
Life post-Hackett
Following the Nathaniel Hackett’s disaster season As of 2022, Payton will have the honor of correcting one of the worst offenses in the NFL. He has coached a short, aging Drew Brees so maybe that experience will help him make the best out of a declining Russell Wilson.
Because of that huge $245 million contract, the Broncos have been with Wilson for a long time, even though he played so poorly at one point that by 2022, he doesn’t appear to belong in the NFL. His death limited hit didn’t make less than $30 million until 2017, so cutting him off isn’t viable for a while.
It’s safe to say that Payton will also be well compensated – the Broncos’ ownership is, after all, the Walton-Penner family (read: Walmart) — but he didn’t jump into a situation where he was ready for a Super Bowl. The Broncos needs repairs, so he’d better bring his hard hat and lunch bucket.
