Nicki Minaj will be nominated 5 times for the Grammy Awards 2023
Don’t ignore her! Nicki Minaj, there was internal turmoil last week when she called out the Grammy Award for transitioning her hit ‘Super Freaky Girl’ from rap to pop, and it looks like the stuntman has may have attracted their attention. According to a recent report from Variety, Grammy voters who received their ballots reported that Nicki is competing in the category of Best Rap Performance for another of her songs.
The song in question is her single, ‘Do We Have a Problem,’ featuring Lil Baby. Bop dropped in February and landed at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The queen isn’t done yet! Variety also reports that she will appear more frequently in the rap portion of the Grammy ballot for collaborative songs. Coi Leray’s song ‘Blick Blick’ was on the ballot for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. Yung Bleu’s song, ‘Love In The Way’, in which she also featured, was also listed among the songs eligible for Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance.
While the full spectrum of Grammy nominations has yet to officially drop, Nicki’s new beef jerky with Latto has many wondering if there will ever be a unity among rap musicians. As we previously reported on October 13, the Queens-born singer went live for seventeen minutes, expressing her disappointment at the genre change while photographing Latto for the song. Her song, ‘Big Energy’, stands out in the rap genre.
Unfortunately, the two started a nasty exchange on Twitter. In total, Nicki appeared eight times on the ballot. Once in the pop category, twice in the music video and five times in the rap category. The official Grammy nominations will be announced on Tuesday, November 15. Roommates, will you be watching to see if Nicki wins her first Grammy on February 5?
