No fans at Skate Canada championship due to COVID-19
OTTAWA –
The Canadian Figure Skating Championships will be without fans in attendance as the national sports organization adapts to the skyrocketing COVID-19 numbers.
Skate Canada said all tickets purchased for the event at Ottawa’s TD Place Arena from January 6-13 will be refunded.
The change is in line with the Ontario government’s decision on Thursday to limit attendance at other sporting and event venues.
The regulator said that the high-profile event would go ahead as planned but that gala dinner on 9 January has been cancelled.
The junior event has been rescheduled and the newcomer event has been postponed.
Media are no longer allowed to attend in person and will instead conduct virtually interviews.
