Nobel panel to reveal 2021 prize for physics

STOCKHOLM —
The 2021 Nobel Prize for physics is being introduced Tuesday, an award that has prior to now honored discoveries about basic forces of nature and cosmic phenomena.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will announce the recipient at about 11:45 a.m. (0945 GMT; 5:45 a.m. EDT).

It is not uncommon for a number of scientists who work in associated fields to share the prize. Final 12 months, the prize went to American Andrea Ghez, Roger Penrose of Britain and Reinhard Genzel of Germany for his or her analysis into black holes.

The distinguished award comes with a gold medal and 10 million Swedish kronor (over US$1.14 million). The prize cash comes from a bequest left by the prize’s creator, Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel, who died in 1895.

On Monday, the Nobel Committee awarded the prize in physiology or medication to Individuals David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian for his or her discoveries into how the human physique perceives temperature and contact.

Over the approaching days prizes may even be awarded for excellent work within the fields of chemistry, literature, peace and economics.
