Nominations close for Quebec municipal elections, several candidates for mayor uncontested – Montreal


The nominations have formally closed for the 2021 Quebec municipal elections.

Candidates had till 4:30 p.m. Friday to submit their names so as to be included on the ballots on Nov. 7.

The Metropolis of Montreal will see its incumbent Valérie Plante run once more for the mayoral place, whereas in Quebec Metropolis, longstanding mayor Régis Labeaume — who has held the place since 2007 — won’t be again on the poll.

A number of municipalities throughout Quebec have already elected their mayor by acclamation.
