Officials said if the whale was repositioned, on duty mammal response teams would attempt to remove it.
The whale was observed Saturday by a Cessna aircraft operated by the Canadian Oceans and Fisheries Company.
Officials say the New England Aquarium has grafted the entangled whale into a predator, the Right whale’s 2021 calf known as 3720.
The condition of the whale is unknown and it is not known what kind of gear the animal was entangled in, or where it came from.
