Norwin High School Student Calls For Change After 2 Other Students Wear Confederate Flag To School – CBS Pittsburgh

IRWIN, Pa. (KDKA) — The Norwin College District is embroiled in controversy after photographs unfold on social media of highschool college students carrying the Accomplice flag to high school.

The superintendent stated two college students have been known as to the workplace and compelled to vary earlier than they returned to class, throughout a day that was speculated to be about honoring the nation.
A junior at the highschool stated what these college students did was extraordinarily hurtful, and she or he needs to see the district do extra.
“Some folks have been simply carrying purple, white and blue,” stated junior Kalea Armstrong. “However I feel if you put the Accomplice flag on, which is a symbolism of racism from the South, it’s jaw-dropping.”
Armstrong stated she was shocked to see a handful of scholars carrying offensive apparel, together with the Accomplice flag, to high school.
“I used to be infuriated. I went right down to the principal’s workplace, talked to him within the workplace. It introduced me to tears,” Armstrong stated.

“He stated that they’re going to work on the scenario and that they’re calling the scholars right down to the workplace, that he feels for me, and that he’ll attempt to do something to make it higher,” the coed added.
Norwin Superintendent Jeff Taylor informed KDKA that college students have been inspired to put on purple, white and blue to indicate assist for America as a part of a theme for homecoming week. He stated the 2 college students who wore Accomplice flag clothes modified and returned to class.
He issued a press release to KDKA that stated, partially:
“Per district coverage, college students who’ve clothes on which will probably disrupt the academic course of are given a verbal warning on the primary event and are requested to vary their clothes. A father or mother of one of many college students carrying the flag supplied a message to KDKA’s Jennifer Borrasso.
“It was flag day at college. He selected to put on one thing that had purple white and blue. We’ve had household that died underneath that flag so it’s not racial to us. We’ve already been in dialogue with the varsity and agreed he wouldn’t put on it anymore,” father or mother Tim Daring stated.
Armstrong stated she needs to see the district name an meeting to teach college students and others about this matter.
