Novak Djokovic reacts to the big news at the Australian Open
Novak Djokovic got some big news this week when he learned that his visa would be reinstated by Australia, clearing the way for him to enter the Australian Open in January.
Djokovic is chasing Rafael Nadal for the title of the player with the most singles tournaments in tennis history and is one point behind the Spaniard. Being allowed to compete in Australia, his best professional yet, would give Djokovic a great chance to overtake Nadal with 22 majors.
Djokovic speaks from Turin, Italy this week, where he is competing in the ATP Finals. He had a very positive response to the big news.
“I certainly couldn’t have received better news — during this tournament. [The] The Australian Open is my most successful Grand Slam. I made some of the best memories there. Of course, I want to go back there, I want to play tennis, do what I can best, hopefully have a great summer in Australia.” Djokovic said, via AFP.
“I am always grateful to go through experiences, no matter what the experience is. I try to be optimistic and positive in life.
“I’m looking forward to starting the new year in Australia, and we’ll see how next year plays out.”
Djokovic won his group in the ATP Finals, with a score of 3-0. He will face Taylor Fritz in the semi-finals of the event.
The good news about the Australian Open that he missed in 2022 could give him a big boost mentally.
