Regardless of what you think about Ford’s use of the Mustang name for an electric crossover, one thing’s for sure, the Mustang Mach-E GT is an impressive piece of machinery. Here are some numbers for you: 480 horsepower, 634 lb-ft of torque, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, and 260-mile range. Price? Well, it’s really up to you, because if you Enter to win this Mach-E GT. it can be as low as $0.
Here’s what we thought of the Mach-E when we drove it earlier this year:
“Welcome to the party Ford Mustang Mach-E GT. For those who are not familiar with the fine, classic Mustang, those two additional letters signified the presence of a V8 and thus a palpable performance upgrade over the base four and six-cylinder engines. The Mustang GT is also where most car enthusiasts even begin to consider Ford’s horse wagon. And honestly, as impressive as every other version of Mach-E has, which will probably also be the case with the Mustang electric crossover. GT is the one you want.
“Snail the accelerator from the deadlock and you will get the punch. Goodbye sunglasses, enjoy the back seat. The GT produces 480 hp and 600 pound-feet of torque, which is certainly a performance upgrade over the next rung up, the Premium AWD with 346 hp and 358 lb-ft. 428 lb-ft. The additional GT Performance upgrade has the same 480 hp, but makes 634 lb-ft.
“Ford’s chronograph clocks the GT from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, with GT Performance’s extra torque and stiffer summer rubber cutting that time down to 3.5 seconds. . 0.4 seconds slower than fastest speed Tesla Model 3 Performance, but… shrug. There’s more to an automobile than just a stopwatch.
“OK, so in the case of the EV, there’s also the power range, and here the GT is overtaken by Tesla (like every other EV). The GT carries an EPA-estimated range of 270 miles, equal to the AWD Premium. GT performance drops to 260 miles. Now, if it is significantly superior to EPA the range as other Mach-Es got in real testing, while the Tesla performed slightly worse than it, effective difference between that same 315 miles Model 3 Performance won’t be that great. Theoretically, at least. There will still be a significant difference from the Model 3 Long Range version, which is rated at 353 miles and takes just 0.4 seconds compared to the GT’s 0-60 time. Yet again, shrug.
“In the end, though, the more you punch it in GT, the worse that range gets. It has the same “Extended Range” 88 kilowatt-hours the battery like the Premium Line and California first trim levels, and although it gains some efficiency due to the lower suspension, your mileage will vary greatly. “
