NYPD saves a dog whose leash was broken and fell into the East River


LOWER MANHATTAN (WABC) – NYPD Emergency Services Unit officers rushed to rescue a dog that escaped its owner and jumped into the East River Saturday morning.

‘Bebe’ breaks free of her leash at South Street Seaport and dives off Pier 17.

He swam more than 200 meters in the freezing cold river.

The officers put on their underwater lifeguards and swam to the puppy. They have safely returned it to its anxious waiting owner.
