Odds Alabama vs. Auburn, predictions, betting trends for the Iron Bowl on CBS

3 Alabama meets Auburn on Saturday at the Iron Bowl.

The game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Alabama, Ala. The match will be televised on CBS.

Alabama (10-1) will be looking to put a final stop to another race through its division ahead of the SEC’s much-anticipated championship game against No. 1 Georgia. Midfielder Bryce Young is building on what could be a Heisman Trophy season, and Nick Saban is 9-5 in the Iron Bowl, but that includes a 3-4 record at Auburn.

Auburn (6-5) enjoyed a season of ups and downs under freshman coach Bryan Harsin, but that record was wiped out by their state rivals. Full-back TJ Finley will get another start in place of Bo Nix, who has missed the season with a fractured ankle. The Tigers must effectively run the ball around Tank Bigsby to stand a chance.

It’s always been theater high in the SEC when the Crimson Tide and Tigers meet, and pressure is mounting on Alabama down the road. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about betting on the Iron Bowl.

Odds between Alabama vs. Auburn

  • Transmitted: Alabama -19.5
  • On lower: 55.5
  • Cash flow: Alabama -1250, Auburn +710

Three trends to know

– The Tigers are playing 4-2 S/U at home this season, but the only game they’ve beaten is against Georgia. Auburn lost 34-10 and couldn’t cover in that game.

– The Crimson Tide is 6-5 ATS this season, and they’ve been favored by double digits in every game. In the SEC West game, Alabama is 2-3 ATS.

– Alabama has been favored in six of the last seven Iron Bowls at Jordan-Hare Stadium, and the Crimson Tide is just 2-5 ATS in those games. Alabama has become a double-digit favorite in two of those three games. Take a look at those results:

YEAR SPREAD RESULT
2007 AUB -4.5 AUB 17-10
2009 ALA -10 ALA 26-21
2011 ALA -21 ALA 42-14
two thousand and thirteen ALA -9.5 AUB 34-28
2015 ALA -14.5 ALA 29-13
2017 ALA -4.5 AUB 26-14
2019 ALA -3.5

AUB 48-45

Three things to see

Attack of Alabama. Young is down five games since losing to Texas A&M. During that period, he averaged 370 yards per game with 18 TDs and no interceptions. Young is also completing 78.9% of his passes during that period. If Auburn couldn’t slow that down, this game wouldn’t have much of it. The Tigers rank 11th in the SEC for pass defense and allow 10.9 yards per catch. This is a huge challenge for Auburn defensive coordinator Derek Mason.

TJ Finley’s completion rate. Finley has filled in Nix and the transfer midfielder has passed on three TDs and no interceptions. That said, he has a 52.3 completion rate. Auburn is 1-4 ahead of FBS schools this season as their quarterbacks complete less than 60% of passes and Alabama has allowed a 63.9% completion rate for the year. Finley had to take advantage of those opportunities in the passing game.

Will Anderson Jr. Is there a more dominant defensive player in college football? Anderson has 13.5 covers and 27.5 tackles. He also leads the Crimson Tide with eight hurdles in midfield. It will be a challenge to keep Finley in comfortable situations, especially in the third and long part.

Important Stats

Alabama has let more than 100 yards happen in just three games this season. They have allowed passes for 285 yards or more in four games, including a loss to Texas A&M and the last one against Arkansas last week. Auburn will try to limit Alabama’s fortunes by focusing on the running game, but at some point they’ll have to snap at Finley. Alabama’s sideline has had a few inappropriate incidents this year, but eight different players have had an intercept.

Predictions between Alabama vs. Auburn

It’s not just about Young. It’s the supporting cast. Brian Robinson, Jr averages 4.9 yards per run with 14 quick TDs, and a combination of Jameson Williams (1,218 yards, 13 TDs) and John Metchie III (895 yards, 7 TDs) ) was stable throughout the season. All three will find the end zone. Alabama’s history at Jordan-Hare Stadium is worth knowing, but the Tigers face an uphill battle against an attacking machine preparing for its final test against Georgia. Alabama won’t stop here.

The last point: Alabama 38, Auburn 20
