Boston’s turnaround over the course of the season has been astounding. However, there was a lot of talk that they would fall victim to the more talented Nets in the knockout stages.
They now have a 2-0 lead in the series thanks to their solid defence. They’re basically doing what they did in the regular season when they were the best team at the Eastern Conference in the second half. Looks like they’re also built to win the knockouts.
The same cannot be said about the Nets. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are the league’s best scoring duo, however, those two don’t enjoy all the attention and physicality they’re getting from the Celtics. If Ben Simmons is right for the enigmatic style, it could help Brooklyn defend, but he probably won’t make it any easier for the Nets to score. At least not in the inning unless he magically developed a shot while in seclusion.
Brooklyn is currently in do or die mode. The players and coaches on the hot seat.

Boston wants to play and win a certain way, and that’s easier to do at home in the knockout stages. We may not like to admit it, but the home teams could go away in better physical shape this time of year and the Celtics have built on that to their first two wins of the series.
With the series moving to Brooklyn, I think we’ll see a much more open game (or more fouls). If Simmons plays, the Nets can even play a little more during the transition due to his skill set. (Boston has scorers Jayson Tatum and Jaylon Brown, who can also thrive in a faster-paced game)
Durant and Irving both had poor offensive games in Game 2 but their track record has shown that they rarely hold out for long so I would expect the rebound to be felt when the Nets are mostly attacking. .
