OHL to lift Logan Mailloux’s suspension on January 1

The Ontario Hockey League is lifting the indefinite suspension of London Knights defender Logan Mailloux.

The league said in a statement Wednesday that he will be reinstated effective January 1, 2022.

While on loan to a hockey team in Sweden, Mailloux was involved in an ‘incident’ that violated the federation’s expectations regarding the appropriate behavior of players.

Mailloux admitted to sending sexually explicit photos to members of his hockey team without his partner’s consent.

He was charged with defamation and criminal photography and ordered to pay a fine.

“I know I’ve caused a lot of harm to this person and her family,” Mailloux said during a virtual press conference on July 24. “I deeply regret having acted foolishly and arrogantly. What I’m doing now is unfortunately part of her life and mine.”

Since the time of his suspension, the federation said Mailloux has engaged in therapy and counseling with Dr Lindsey Forbes and personal development planning under the leadership of Wendy Glover.

Glover is a holistic athlete development practitioner based in London, Ontario, academic and personal development counselor, teacher, and member of the Ontario Association of School Mentors.

The federation said that plan includes programs such as Respect for Sport, Mental Health in Sports, Sport Facility, Ethics in Sports, Diversity and Inclusion, Psychology of Sports and Awareness. culturally.

The league announced that after reviewing the program with Glover and receiving a commitment from Mailloux to continue developing, he will be eligible to return on Saturday when the Knights are scheduled to play in Erie, PA.
