TULSA, Okla – A trip to the local bank, which his family has used for generations, took a hit for an Oklahoma man who didn’t notice that his driver’s license was on him. expired.
“I said no, no, this is wrong, wrong,” said Cecil Betterton.
Betterton needed to cash out enough cash to replace some carpets when it remodeled part of its house, but there was a hitch with banks and teller policies.
“She looked at my driver’s license and said I can’t do that because you’re out, your license isn’t good.”
License of Betterton, teller told him, expired a few days earlier.
“And I said, no big deal, I still need the money. She said I can’t give more than your $100.”
A situation that seems insignificant to many can be a major obstacle for some.
Betterton avoids using credit and carpet shops won’t check either, because license expires. Then, he said, he ran into another setback, some of the more recent “making the news” delays in renewing his license.
“That kind of thing is too troublesome for me.”
However, home improvement is very important. After all, he is finally remarrying, after his late wife passed away several times ago. Moving on, Betterton admits, has not been easy.

“They have a picture and everything, and they know who it is, why trouble? Why trouble for one person?” he say.
Betterton says he understands a bank’s job is to secure your money and protect you. However, he said there could be exceptions for cases like his, an ID that expires in just two days, at a local bank he’s been using for years. Now, he’s giving some advice.
“Check your driver’s license, make sure you’re up to date.”

Since Betterton and his family had been customers there for so long and his identification had long expired, the managers there decided to allow him to withdraw the amount needed to improve his house, before he remarries.
