Ola Electric is working on its first electric car and it will hit the Indian market around 2024. The company’s first electric four-wheeler will have a range of more than 500 kilometers in on a single charge and is said to go from 0-100kmph in under 4 seconds. In an update, Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal revealed details on the pricing of the upcoming electric vehicle. It will launch as a domestic premium product. Ola Electric entered the electric vehicle market last year with the launch of the Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters. It recently unveiled its new S1 electric scooter for Rs. 99,999.
According to one report by Cartoq, Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO and Co-Founder of Ola Palace reports confirmed to PTI that the company’s first electric vehicle will be priced from Rs. 40-50 thousand. The report quoted Aggarwal as saying, “Ola’s product range will stretch from Rs. 1 lakh (imported two-wheeler) to Rs. 40-50 lakh (premium electric vehicle) and the company’s vision is to become become a global leader in mid-size, small and premium electric cars suitable for markets and consumers like India.E-car will be the ‘fastest and sportiest’ in India. We certainly have a full roadmap in the automotive sector.”
During the Ola S1 virtual launch event on August 15, Ola announced that it will introduce its first electric car in 2024. It is said to be one of the fastest cars in India and is said to be able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under 4 seconds. It will have a range of more than 500km on a single charge. Furthermore, the EV will have a glass roof and run on the company’s MoveOS software. It is also confirmed to include driver assistance, and keyless and handless doors.
Ola Electric, which started making two-wheelers last year, launched the Ola S1 last week as the company’s second electric scooter in India priced at Rs. 99,999.
The new Ola S1 succeeds the Ola S1 Pro from 2021 and is offered in Coral Glam, Jet Black, Liquid Silver, Neo Mint and Porcelain White color options. It runs on MoveOS 2. Ola S1 has a battery capacity of 3KWh. It has a top speed of 95 km/h and offers an ARAI range of 141 km and a normal range of 101 km.
